Located in a gated community 10 minutes from the beaches of Dominical, Casa Paz offers everything you’d want in a vacation home or investment property. There is a 3 bedroom/2 bathroom house and a detached 2 bedroom/1 bathroom unit, which is ideal for renting or when out-of-town family visit for extended stays. Part of this property’s appeal is the use of fine woods in the construction of the house and the furnishings as the owner was a generational logger, carpenter, and professional artist. The second level of the main house was used for a dance studio for years can easily frame into two more bedrooms. The house features an open-air design and stunning mountain and jungle views.
Both homes are sturdily sound and built legally with Teak, Ebony, Alizan wood from the property. The trees were handpicked for the house, and the owner logged and milled them himself. The 2x4 teak boards that were used for the framing of the house walls were once the owner’s wedding benches, making every piece of wood sentimental. All of the wood has been treated for bugs to prevent pest problems. Every beam has been bolted and anchored for earthquake safety. The open-concept kitchen and living room are gorgeous. The kitchen cabinets are constructed out of a local rose cedar. The dining room table was made from a single Alizan tree from the property. There is also a wooden kitchen island with an extra sink on the side and bench seating on the other side. The wooden beams and pendant lighting complete the look. The living room and dining room feature large tempered glass windows.
There are three bedrooms on the main level. The Master suite features a king-size bed and a hand-crafted wooden desk. Inside the master bath, you’ll find the cement walls that are finished with an Italian Ocre finish and carved by the owner who is a professional artist. The shower is in the shape of a shell with an adjustable handheld shower. There is also a large soaking tub. This bathroom gives a luxurious and artsy vibe. The other two bedrooms include bunk beds in one room and a twin bed in another, making this a family-friendly home.
The upstairs had been used as a ballet studio for years, and world-famous ballerinas and ballet masters danced there. The giant window shutter on that level allowed for open-air access and stunning views while practicing ballet. The ballet barre is still up, but the upstairs has been converted to a family fun area with a trampoline, swings, and mats. In the corner, there is a wooden table and chairs, giving you access to the abundant jungle of trees
The detached house offers some lovely furnishings too. The kitchen includes many of the same kitchen cabinets but a much smaller eat-in table. On the wrap-around porch, there are some wooden rockers and a wooden table to enjoy the fresh air and scenery. The large bedroom includes one king bed and two additional beds, while the smaller bedroom features a day bed.
The outside area is lovely with a patio table and chairs, a hammock to relax in, and an above-ground round swimming pool. Fruit trees surround the houses and property and were planted when the house was built and are now starting to bear fruit. You’ll have an abundance of wildlife on the property, including exotic wild birds and some sloth families. Some of them, named Amable and Lucy have lived there for years.
